MINOT, N.D. (AP) — A study says Minot could be a city of 56,000 people in 15 years.
The study commissioned by the Minot Area Development Corp. estimates the city's current population at about 45,500, higher than the 2010 Census figure of just under 41,000. Corporation President Jerry Chavez tells the Minot Daily News that Minot has seen tremendous growth in the past year, primarily because of western North Dakota's booming oil patch.
The study found that nearly 1,000 housing units will be needed to fulfill this year's housing demand, and that many of them are under construction.
