WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) — An airport in northwest North Dakota that normally handles small planes opened its runway to a 70-passenger jet earlier this week.
Williston airport officials say the United Airlines plane traveling from Chicago to Calgary, Alberta, was forced to make an unscheduled stop because of a medical emergency.
Officials say large aircraft usually aren't allowed to land in Williston because of weight restrictions.
The Williston Herald reports that a passenger on the plane was taken to a local hospital after the plane landed Thursday. No further details were available.
