'Sodbuster' sculpture might reappear in Fargo
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A fiberglass sculpture of a Great Plains farmer that was displayed for almost 20 years in downtown Fargo might be put on display again.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A fiberglass sculpture of a Great Plains farmer that was displayed for almost 20 years in downtown Fargo might be put on display again.
The sculpture called “Sodbuster” was put into storage in 2002 because it needed repairs due to weather damage. The Forum newspaper reports that the Plains Art Museum's plans to restore it were put on hold in 2006 when artist Luis Jimenez was killed in an accident in his New Mexico art studio.
Museum Director Colleen Sheehy says she plans to hold a conference in November to get public comments on where the sculpture should be displayed, and to get fundraising ideas. She estimates repairs will cost about $75,000.
