Medical emergency forces jet to land
An airport in northwest North Dakota that normally handles small planes opened its runway to a 70-passenger jet earlier this week.
WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) — An airport in northwest North Dakota that normally handles small planes opened its runway to a 70-passenger jet earlier this week.
Williston airport officials said the United Airlines plane traveling from Chicago to Calgary, Alberta, was forced to make an unscheduled stop because of a medical emergency.
Officials said large aircraft usually aren’t allowed to land in Williston because of weight restrictions.
The Williston Herald reported that a passenger on the plane was taken to a local hospital after the plane landed Thursday. No further details were available.
