Man who escaped from VC jail caught
Authorities say an inmate who escaped from a Valley City jail earlier this month has been apprehended.
FARGO (AP) — Authorities say an inmate who escaped from a Valley City jail earlier this month has been apprehended.
Barnes County Sheriff Randy McClaflin told KOVC radio that 20-year-old Travis Dethlefs of Carrington was arrested at a motel room in Fargo about 10 p.m. Friday.
Dethlefs was being held in the Barnes County jail on a probation revocation. He has prior convictions for burglary, possession of marijuana and theft of property.
Authorities said Dethlefs and Ryan Thomas of Mandan escaped on June 6 when they kicked open a fire escape door while on a cleaning detail.
Thomas remains at large.
