Two ND rural electrics getting federal loans
Two rural electric cooperatives in North Dakota are getting money through a U.S. Department of Agriculture initiative to modernize the nation's electric grid.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Two rural electric cooperatives in North Dakota are getting money through a U.S. Department of Agriculture initiative to modernize the nation's electric grid.
USDA's goal is to invest $250 million in so-called “smart grid” equipment in rural America over the next 12 months.
In North Dakota, KEM Electric is getting a $6 million loan primarily for new and upgraded distribution line, and Cavalier Rural Electric is getting an $8.2 million loan for the same purpose.
