Second man who escaped from Valley City jail caught

The second of two inmates who escaped from a Valley City jail earlier this month is back in custody.

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (AP) — The second of two inmates who escaped from a Valley City jail earlier this month is back in custody.

The Valley City Times-Record reports that Ryan Thomas was apprehended Friday in Minot. Barnes County Sheriff Randy McClaflin says police got a tip that Thomas was at a bar and he was arrested without incident.

Authorities say Thomas and Travis Dethlefs escaped on June 6 by kicking open a fire escape door while on a cleaning detail. Dethlefs was caught at a motel room in Fargo on June 17.
