MINOT (AP) — The North Dakota State Fair is still being held in Minot later this month despite Souris River flooding, but it will go on without the traditional parade.
State Fair Parade Committee Chairman Jim Clifford told the Minot Daily News that the parade has been canceled because of the difficulties accessing some streets and because of safety concerns due to trucks and other heavy vehicles working in the city.
The parade had been scheduled for Saturday, July 23. Clifford said people who paid parade entry fees will be asked if they want to donate the money to flood relief.
