A Wisconsin man was charged with DUI Wednesday night after leading authorities on a high-speed chase for nearly 15 miles, according to Sgt. Tom Herzig, North Dakota Highway Patrol.
Thomas Kelley, 56, Hudson, Wis., was driving a 1994 Mitsubishi 3000 GT, eastbound on Interstate 94 by Eckelson, N.D., around 5 p.m. at a high rate of speed.
A state trooper attempted to pull Kelley over, and Kelley attempted to elude the trooper by taking an exit, Herzig said. The driver then returned to I-94.
The trooper caught up with Kelley, who was traveling at speeds greater than 125 mph, Herzig said.
A tire deflation system was placed across the road by Valley City exit 292. All four tires were deflated in Kelley’s car and it came to a stop in the south ditch around 5:15 p.m.
Kelley was charged with DUI, resisting arrest, fleeing and reckless endangerment.
There were no injuries or damage, Herzig said.
