VALLEY CITY, N.D. (AP) — One of two inmates who escaped from a Valley City jail last month will serve 10 months in prison.
The Valley City Times-Record reported that Ryan Eugene Thomas was sentenced in connection with his escape from a town jail earlier this month. The 28-year-old Thomas and 21-year-old Travis Dethlefs escaped by kicking open a fire escape door while on a cleaning detail.
Dehtlefs was caught in a motel room in Fargo on June 17. Thomas was arrested at a bar in Mandan shortly afterward.
Thomas was being held on misdemeanor warrants in Morton County at the time of his arrest. Dethlefs still faces drug possession charges in Cass County.
