Matt Nelson says he never expected to find work in his hometown after starting Excel Cleaning and Restoration Supplies. Nelson's parents and other family members live in Minot.

The Minot Daily News says Nelson persuaded another Florida company, Global Disaster Recovery, to join in the cleanup effort. Nelson recruited workers from Ohio, Tennessee, Colorado and Texas.

Nelson says he is donating a percentage of his sales to Minot Public Schools.

The National Guard says about 4,000 homes suffered damage in Minot and Ward County.
