MINOT, N.D. (AP) — The Red Cross says it has opened two service centers in Minot to help residents affected by record flooding.

Officials say case workers will be available to provide support and answer questions. Residents will also receive backpacks with cleaning supplies and other practical items.

An estimated 11,000 people were evacuated from neighborhoods near the Souris River before it broke a more than 130-year-old high-water record. Some residents are being allowed to return to their homes.

The Red Cross says the sites at the Minot Auditorium and Burlington Lacs Elementary School will be open every day from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
