Letter to the editor: Streets should be clean after parade, not full of garbage

I am writing this letter to thank the city of Jamestown for holding a wonderful parade. My kids and I enjoyed every bit of it. However, I was disappointed with some of the audience and their blatant disrespect for Main Street’s cleanliness.

I am writing this letter to thank the city of Jamestown for holding a wonderful parade. My kids and I enjoyed every bit of it. However, I was disappointed with some of the audience and their blatant disrespect for Main Street’s cleanliness. I saw people dropping candy wrappers and water bottles on the street. As my kids and I walked to our vehicle, I saw Main Street covered in garbage.

As a citizen of this town, I am embarrassed to live alongside people who have no respect for our town’s cleanliness and the environment. As a mother, I am trying to teach my children to respect their town and the environment. I encourage everyone in Jamestown to take time to think about our planet’s future and to be a good role model for our youth.
