Funeral set for slain North Dakota police officer

The funeral for a Bismarck police officer killed in the line of duty will be at the Civic Center.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The funeral for a Bismarck police officer killed in the line of duty will be at the Civic Center.

Fifty-six-year-old Sgt. Steven Kenner will be buried in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery south of Mandan following the 10 a.m. funeral Thursday. Public visitation is from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Bismarck.

Kenner was shot and killed late Friday while responding to a domestic disturbance call. Authorities have charged 52-year-old Steven G. Bannister with murder.

Kenner was the first Bismarck officer killed on the job and the first North Dakota officer to die while on duty in 15 years.
