BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Bismarck city officials have closed self-fill sandbag sites but are asking residents to keep existing bags in place as the area continues to deal with flooding.

Sandbags are no longer being accepted at self-fill sites but unused bags can be returned to the Bismarck Landfill from 8 a.m.to 6 p.m .Monday thru Friday. The landfill is also opened on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Flows are forecasted to decrease, but will remain high throughout July and August. City officials say protective barriers should remain in place.

City officials say in a news release that residents will be notified when it is safe to remove and dispose of sandbags. A plan is being developed for the removal process.
