The Multi-County Truck Regulatory Agency heard a report from its field officer during its regular meeting Wednesday. The agency maintains a mobile truck weight patrol unit that covers Barnes, Stutsman, LaMoure and Dickey counties
Tim Gillespie reported he had ticketed 20 trucks for overloads and 13 trucks for speeding since beginning the patrols on May 19.
The heaviest truck encountered was 138,000 pounds over the 80,000-pound limit on the Barnes County township road it was traveling on. The trucking company has agreed to pay for the repairs to the township road.
Most of the overloads were for trucks between 11,000 and 17,000 pounds overweight. Fines for this type of overload range from $1,100 to $2,000.
