Betty Ford was remembered at her funeral as a loving mother and generous friend, devoted not only to her family but to her country and to God. Among those attending the funeral was first lady Michelle Obama, former President George W. Bush, and former first ladies Nancy Reagan, Rosalynn Carter and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Also in attendance were former first daughters Lynda Johnson Rob and Patricia Nixon Cox. Maria Shriver represented the Kennedy family.

Former President Gerald and Betty Ford retired to Rancho Mirage, Calif., in 1977 after leaving the White House. The Fords were active members of St. Margaret’s and gracious to all fellow parishioners.

“It was a privilege to know Mrs. Ford and I was honored to participate in the celebration of her life,” Remboldt said.

Remboldt is a 1974 graduate of Jamestown College. Hank Remboldt is a 1972 graduate of Jamestown College.
