Grand Forks getting new apartment complexes
New apartment complexes are being developed in Grand Forks.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — New apartment complexes are being developed in Grand Forks.
The $6.2 million Northern Heights at Griggs Squire facility is to open in August on the site of the former Civic Auditorium. The Grand Forks Herald reports that it will have 53 apartment units, a restaurant, commercial space and underground parking.
Across the street, work is beginning on another apartment complex. The facility valued at more than $5.5 million is called The Aurora at Griggs Square. It will have 40 apartment units, a fitness room, an outdoor deck overlooking a plaza and green space with an outdoor playground. It's to open in January.
City Urban Development Director Greg Hoover says the housing on the fringe of downtown should help spur more retail and commercial development in the area.
