A large storm system that rolled across North Dakota early Saturday spawned at least two tornadoes and caused significant damage to apartments in Fargo. There have been no reports of injuries.

The National Weather Service says the storm began late Friday in western North Dakota, where high winds blew a semitrailer off the road in Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

The thunderstorm hit Fargo around 3 a.m. Saturday. KFGO radio reports that roofs were blown off apartment buildings and several row garages were leveled in a several block area.

The weather service says spotters throughout state reported torrential rain, hail and wind gusts of more than 60 mph.

Weather service spokesman Harlan Wetzel says the storm was big, but apparently didn't live up to its full potential.
