The first-ever Pioneer Days will offer family entertainment this weekend at Frontier Village.
“The Frontier Village Pioneer Days is a time where we want to bring our buildings to life,” said Tina Busche, Frontier Village manager.
Volunteers will be dressed in period clothing and there will be several demonstrations throughout the weekend on different aspects of life in the pioneer days.
“Basically it’s trying to give people a feeling of the old-time West in that period setting,” Busche said.
She got the idea for the event when seeing it done at other similar attractions like Frontier Village.
The event will also let people know different things are happening in the shadow of the World’s Largest Buffalo.
“We have so many events as it is, but this is kind of different,” Busche said.
The three-day all-ages event will have story telling, cowboy poetry, commemorative stamp cancellations and much more.
“I think a lot of it is not only for enjoyment but educational purposes also,” she said.
Each day starts with events in the late morning or early afternoon and has entertainment events scheduled for the late afternoon and early evening.
Admission to entertainment events is a freewill donation.
