Heavy rain falls in Richland County

A passing thunderstorm Monday morning dumped as much as 6.5 inches of rain on parts of Richland County.

HANKINSON, N.D. (AP) — A passing thunderstorm Monday morning dumped as much as 6.5 inches of rain on parts of Richland County.

The Fargo Forum reported that the deluge sparked a flash flood warning.

The National Weather Service said one resident measured 6.5 inches of rain in Hankinson at around 11 a.m., while a trained weather spotter reported 3.2 inches of rain 10 miles northeast in Mantador.

Roads such as County Road 3 were temporarily under water after the storm.

The weather service said the heaviest rain fell from Stiles and Hankinson to the South Dakota border.
