Construction on the Jamestown quiet zone is on track for completion by its planned date of Oct. 15, according to a report by Reed Schwartzkopf, Jamestown city engineer, during the the City Public Works Committee.
The plans for the closing of Third Avenue Southeast have been moved up to Aug. 27 as part of the construction work.
After completion of the construction the project is forwarded to the railroad division of the U.S. Department of Transportation. They review the plan for a minimum of three weeks before issuing a final ruling that allows the trains to not blow the whistles when passing through Jamestown.
