Train collides with car in Dickinson

Authorities say a woman escaped from her vehicle seconds before a train plowed into it in Dickinson.

DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) — Authorities say a woman escaped from her vehicle seconds before a train plowed into it in Dickinson.

Police tell the Dickinson Press that Sheri Whitworth of Dickinson drove onto train tracks in a parking lot just before 1:30 a.m. Friday and her vehicle became stuck.

Authorities say the train struck Witworth's car and pushed it about three blocks.

A Burlington Northern Santa Fe official says the car and the lead locomotive caught fire. No one was injured.

Whitworth was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs.
