C.H. Carpenter Lumber closes

A local retail outlet for building materials has closed after 99 years of business in Jamestown. Signs on the front door of C.H. Carpenter Lumber said the lumber yard permanently closed in Jamestown as of Sept. 13. The sign notes that the Valley City branch of the store was continuing to operate.

Local employees of the business said they were not allowed to comment but referred requests for information to the company’s headquarters in Minneapolis, which did not return calls seeking comment.
