Corps hires firm to build 300-unit group site

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has hired an Alabama firm to build a temporary group housing site in Minot to help alleviate the housing shortage after flooding from the Souris River.

MINOT, N.D. (AP) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has hired an Alabama firm to build a temporary group housing site in Minot to help alleviate the housing shortage after flooding from the Souris River.

The Minot Daily News reports that Mobile, Ala.-based DRC Emergency Services LLC was awarded an $11.8 million contract Thursday to build a site that will accommodate 300 units.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has also asked the Corps of Engineers to develop a 600-unit group site in Minot and a 50-unit group site in Burlington.
