600-room man camp proposed near Dickinson

DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) — A temporary housing company has submitted plans for a 600-room “man camp” near Dickinson, and not everyone is happy about it.
The so-called man camps are springing up in western North Dakota to house an influx of oil workers to the region. Dickinson City Planner Ed Courton tells The Dickinson Press that Target Logistics is requesting a permit for an enclosed complex that would have security, plumbing, a recreation center and a dining facility. He says the effects to surrounding residents would be "very minimal."
Some neighbors disagree. Jan Prchal says she doesn't think a man camp belongs anywhere near the city. And she says allowing one will open the door to others.
