FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Six climbers who turned a Mount Kilimanjaro summit into a fundraiser for a Fargo-based organization say the trek was a success.
Spokesman John Amble says everyone in the group reached the top of Africa's highest peak.
Amble says the climbers raised about $6,400 for Up With Downs, a group that aims to improve the lives of individuals with Down syndrome and their families.
The goal was to raise $5,895, which is one dollar for every meter of Mount Kilimanjaro's vertical height.
Amble tells The Forum newspaper the hike was an exciting experience and all the climbers were challenged, especially on summit day.
