Rain delays ND's crop harvest

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Rain early last week caused a delay in the harvesting of crops in some parts of North Dakota.

But the Agriculture Department says in its weekly crop and weather report that all crops made progress despite the precipitation. Spring wheat was 97 percent harvested and durum wheat was 92 percent harvested. Canola was 95 percent harvested.

The report noted that 93 percent of the corn crop has reached the dented stage, behind 99 percent at this point last year but ahead of the five-year 91-percent average.

There was a statewide average of 5.3 days for suitable fieldwork.
