Allmer sits No. 5 in final poll

Jamestown High School’s Alison Allmer moved up another position in the final state Class A girls’ cross country coaches’ poll.
The junior long-distance runner bumped up from No. 6 to No. 5 after a strong performance at last Saturday’s West Region cross country meet in Williston. Allmer finished runner-up to West Region champion Jordan Jacob of Bismarck Century.
Allmer finished the 4,000-meter course at Williston Municipal Golf Course in 15 minutes, 17 seconds, just seven seconds behind Jacob. Jacob was ranked No. 3 in the poll.
The Blue Jays competed at the Andrew Carlson Invite at Rose Creek Golf Course in Fargo on Wednesday, but those results were not available prior to press time. Check Friday’s sports section for those results.
Fargo Davies’ Tarin Lachowitzer and Bismarck’s Jake Leingang still held down the top spots in both the Class A girls’ and boys’ polls, respectively.
Bismarck retained the top spot in the Class A boys’ team poll, as did Fargo Davies on the girls’ side. West Fargo and Grand Forks Central rounded out the top three spots in the boys’ poll, while Bismarck and Bismarck Century followed Davies on the girls’ side, respectively.
In the Class B boys’ poll Ken Wells, of Parshall, is still in first and New Town is the top team. Watford City is the top Class B girls’ team and Robyn Essler, of Garrison, is the top individual.
The Lisbon boys are ranked third as a team, led by No. 5-ranked Jacob Gallagher and No. 7-ranked Thomas Horgeshimer.
Carrington’s Ann Endres is ranked No. 10 individually in the Class B girls’ poll.
