The Jamestown Kiwanis Club has raised $25,000 for Kids Against Hunger and will receive a $25,000 match from the anonymous donor. The funds will be used to purchase ingredients for 250,000 meals for Kids Against Hunger. This program packages nutritious meals for starving and malnourished children and their families in developing countries and the United States.
“We are truly honored by the wonderful response from the community to help us meet our goal,” said Don Bentz, Kiwanis member and event coordinator. “Thank you to everyone who made donations and to all those that will come help us package 250,000 meals later this month.”
Three hundred-sixty volunteers are needed to assemble the meals at the packaging event to be held on Oct. 29 at R.M. Stoudt, located at 800 23rd St. SW in Jamestown. There will be three shifts of 120 people: 9 to 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m. Any business, service organization, school, church, club or individual is invited to lend a helping hand. Approximately 150 volunteers are still needed.
To sign up to volunteer, contact any Kiwanis Club member or Janna Bergstedt at 701-253-5109 or janna.bergstedt@myfccu.com.
