Education board looking to fill chancellor position soonNorth Dakota’s Board of Higher Education hopes to hire a new university system chancellor in six months.
BISMARCK (AP) — North Dakota’s Board of Higher Education hopes to hire a new university system chancellor in six months.
A search committee that’s going to review candidates for the job had its first meeting in Bismarck Tuesday. Incumbent chancellor William Goetz is retiring in August.
Board President Grant Shaft is leading the search committee. He said hiring a new chancellor by March will allow the person to take part in writing the university system’s next recommended budget.
The board is meeting Nov. 17 to approve a job description and pay raise. A consulting firm will start advertising the chancellor’s job the day after.
Shaft said he wants finalists to visit some of the system’s 11 campuses to get a feel for North Dakota and its university system.
