Grand Forks receives $2 million federal grant

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — Grand Forks is one of four communities in the United States to receive Department of Justice grants focused on children and violence.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — Grand Forks is one of four communities in the United States to receive Department of Justice grants focused on children and violence.

Officials say the program is aimed at finding ways to prevent and reduce the impact of children's exposure to violence in their homes, schools and communities.

Grand Forks is receiving $2 million over the next two years as part of the Defending Childhood program.

The other demonstration sites in the program are based in Maine, Massachusetts, Montana, Ohio, Oregon, South Dakota and Tennessee.
