The donation comes from Margaret Thielsch, a 1943 graduate of Jamestown College currently residing in Rhode Island.
Groundbreaking is slated for spring 2012, Badal said. The newly renovated and expanded facility is tentatively named the Thielsch/McKenna Science Center. The total project is estimated to cost $9 million with fundraising to continue.
