FARGO, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota's most populous county is getting more law enforcement officers with the help of federal grants.

The Forum newspaper reports that the Cass County Sheriff's Office is getting $396,000 through a Justice Department program commonly known by its acronym COPS to fund two full-time deputies for three years. The West Fargo Police Department also is getting two more officers with a $408,000 COPS grant. The agencies have to fund the positions for an additional year.

The Community Oriented Policing Services program awarded about $240 million to 238 law enforcement agencies around the country this year.
