Variego to perform recital at VCSU

Jorge Variego, visiting professor with the Valley City State University Music Department, will present a recital at 7:30 p.m. Friday, in Froemke Auditorium on VCSU campus. The repertoire includes a varied selection of 21st century works for clarinet, bass clarinet and electronic media.

Jorge Variego, visiting professor with the Valley City State University Music Department, will present a recital at 7:30 p.m. Friday, in Froemke Auditorium on VCSU campus. The repertoire includes a varied selection of 21st century works for clarinet, bass clarinet and electronic media. All compositions have been written in the last 10 years and feature works by Fidemraizer, O’brien, Variego, and Lewin-Richter, which are also included in the CD “Necessity” released in 2010 by the Albany Records label.

Adult admission is $5. VCSU faculty, staff and students admitted with ID card.

Variego is a composer and performer from Argentina who obtained his master’s degree with double major in composition and clarinet performance from Carnegie Mellon University, where he attended as a Fulbright fellow. For more information, visit www.jorgevariego.com
