The big hunt this weekend is not limited to deer and guns. Hunters may harvest knowledge and a few bargains too.
The Buffalo Mall is hosting the Ladies Showcase on Saturday for women who aren’t taking part in deer-gun season which begins today.
“That’s kind of why I picked this day, so the women would have something to do while the men are out hunting and doing their thing,” said Kim Diede, administrative assistant for IRET Properties which owns Buffalo Mall.
Included in the event are speakers, vendors for early holiday shopping and the chance to win an iPod shuffle among other prizes, she said.
The noon speaker is Annie Kirschenmann of Simple Stress Solutions. Kirschenmann’s presentation is on stress in the workplace and how to reduce it. Workplaces today are fast-paced and full of pressure, she said. So she will teach attendees what she calls “Exer-SENSE” or on-the-job, common sense exercises designed to reduce tension.
People need to realize when they are stressed, she said, and how to counteract it.
“We all experience stress in different ways,” she said.
Also included in the speaking lineup is Deb Fischer of Women’s Way and the Sexual Awareness Response Team at 1 p.m.; Dean Haas of R.M. Stoudt on car education at 2 p.m., Michele Kramlich of Creative Memories at 2:30 p.m., Suzy’s Shuze n Starz at 3 p.m. and a Mary Kay demonstration by Kimber Evenson at 3:30 p.m.
In addition to the speakers, several new vendors will set up displays at the mall. Some of them include Just Jewelry, Dakota Dates, Mona Vie, Thirty One, Rada Cutlery, Nitschke Therapy, Send-Out-Cards and Antique Treasure Chest.
Ladies Showcase begins at 11 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m.
