North Dakota among tops for deer-vehicle collisions
Drivers in the Dakotas are among the most likely in the nation to hit a deer.
NSIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Drivers in the Dakotas are among the most likely in the nation to hit a deer.
The State Farm insurance company’s annual ranking of states in terms of the risks of deer-vehicle collisions puts South Dakota third and North Dakota ninth. West Virginia topped the list for the fifth year in a row.
State Farm uses its claims data and licensed driver counts from the Federal Highway Administration to compile its annual report. The company’s data shows that November is the month during which deer-vehicle collisions are most likely.
