Authorities ID ND man injured in hunting accident

Authorities have identified a Mandan man who was shot while deer hunting.

MANDAN, N.D. (AP) — Authorities have identified a Mandan man who was shot while deer hunting.

Morton County Sheriff's Capt. Lynn Woodall tells The Bismarck Tribune that the bullet that struck 61-year-old David Austin in the abdomen apparently first went through a deer after being fired by Austin's 36-year-old son, Steve.

David Austin was flown to a Bismarck hospital after the Friday afternoon incident. Woodall says Austin was in stable condition a day later.
