FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The next federal farm legislation is the topic of a two-day conference in Fargo.
Sen. Kent Conrad and North Dakota State University researcher Won Koo are hosting the 2012 Farm Bill Conference at the Holiday Inn on Monday and Tuesday. They say officials will discuss key issues such as federal deficit reduction that will influence the next farm bill.
Speakers will include federal Agriculture Department undersecretary Michael Scuse, Risk Management Agency administrator Bill Murphy and Foreign Agriculture Service Administrator Suzanne Heinen. National Farmers Union President Roger Johnson and the heads of several state and national commodity groups also are scheduled. Agricultural economists from the University of Tennessee, Texas A&M, Michigan State, Missouri and Minnesota also are on the agenda.
