Jamestown teacher charged with two felonies

Richard Allen Laqua, 54, Jamestown, was formally charged with two Class C felonies Wednesday morning.
He was charged with one count of sexual assault, and one count of luring a minor by computer or other electronic means, according to Troy LeFevre, Stutsman County assistant state’s attorney.
Laqua is a construction technology instructor at the James Valley Career and Technology Center.
Both Class C felonies have a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment and a fine of $10,000. If convicted, Laqua must also register as a sex offender for a minimum of 15 years. He could also lose his teaching license.
A bail hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Stutsman County Courthouse.
