Mandan upsets Blue Jays

Jamestown volleyball coach Sara Hegerle didn’t want her team to overlook their opening-round opponent, and on Thursday night in Minot, the Mandan Braves proved why.

While every player in a Blue Jay uniform was looking forward to a rematch with Dickinson — a team that narrowly beat Jamestown in its previous meeting — the Braves were just looking to work their way into the West Region tournament winner’s bracket, which is exactly what they did.

Mandan defeated Jamestown in the first round 25-23, 20-25, 25-20, 18-25, 15-13 to send the Blue Jays into the consolation bracket playing for their tournament lives today against Williston.
