GRAND FORKS (AP) — Grand Forks City Hall is celebrating its centennial.
A public celebration of the building’s 100th birthday was being held Wednesday afternoon, with Mayor Mike Brown blowing out birthday candles. Historic displays provided a glimpse of the city as it was a century ago.
The Grand Forks Historic Preservation Commission said the City Hall was built for less than $70,000. Its grand opening was Nov. 15, 1911. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989, the same year a modern addition was completed.
