CAP raises money for veteran wreaths

The Bismarck Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol is raising money to place wreaths on graves at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.

BISMARCK (AP) — The Bismarck Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol is raising money to place wreaths on graves at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.

The Bismarck Tribune reported that wreaths will be placed on the graves during a Dec. 10 ceremony at 11 a.m. at the cemetery south of Mandan.

Wreaths Across America began in 1992 when the Worcester Wreath Co. of Maine had excess wreaths as Christmas neared. The program now partners with the Civil Air Patrol and places wreaths at veterans cemeteries in every state.

Bismarck Lt. Col. Kevin Iverson said the patrol raises money each year to honor veterans who gave so much for the freedoms the country enjoys.

People and businesses can sponsor wreaths for $15 by Nov. 25.
