VALLEY CITY, N.D. (AP) — Former Valley City police chief Dean Ross has been cleared of any criminal wrongdoing stemming from allegations that he misappropriated public funds while he was police chief.
Cass County assistant state's attorney Cherie Clark says that although some of Ross’ actions while police chief were unusual, an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation shows they were not criminal.
Ross was suspended as police chief in early September amid allegations he mishandled public money, an accusation he disputed. The city dropped its allegations when Ross stepped down later that month.
Ross tells KOVC he is happy investigation is over and he has been cleared.
Ross is now running for mayor of Valley City.
