I am writing this letter in response to a Valley News Live report on Tuesday at 10 p.m. on Great River Energy. In the report, our city administrator, Jeff Fuchs, commented while smiling that this would be good for the community even though the plant at Spiritwood would not be opening for another two years. The reason for not opening was low electric prices and low consumer base. But yet the Jamestown/Stutsman Development Corp. wants to spend almost $4 million on a spur line to other businesses that might decide to develop in that area.

My next question is why I had to hear about it on a Fargo TV broadcast and not in our local paper.

Is someone scared that John Grabinger’s and Brad Mills’ letters to the editor have enlightened the taxpayers’ eyes? I’m beginning to think that JSDC representatives are not playing with a full deck, much less be managing our tax money.

Editor’s note: The Sun reported on Aug. 25 that GRE’s Spiritwood Station plant was going on standby.
