Woman admits to lying to authorities

A Fargo woman has pleaded guilty to lying to authorities about a sexual assault investigation.

MINOT (AP) — A Fargo woman has pleaded guilty to lying to authorities about a sexual assault investigation.

The U.S. attorney’s office said 26-year-old Ashley St. Claire is charged in federal court with false statements. The charge carries a maximum penalty of eight years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Authorities said St. Claire admitted in the plea agreement to lying about a February 2010 incident in the Belcourt area.

Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 27 in Minot.
