Minot doctor has medical license suspended
North Dakota's state medical board has suspended the license of a longtime Minot doctor for allegedly improperly prescribing a controlled substance.
MINOT, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota's state medical board has suspended the license of a longtime Minot doctor for allegedly improperly prescribing a controlled substance.
The Minot Daily News reports that Brian Briggs says he is likely to appeal. He says the complaint against him was based on a forged prescription.
An administrative law judge ruled earlier this fall that Briggs had made an improper prescription. The Board of Medical Examiners voted last month to suspend Briggs’ license and ordered an evaluation of his skills by the Denver-based Center for Personalized Education for Physicians.
Briggs had his medical license suspended once before, from March 1990 through February 1991. The medical board found that Briggs violated a stipulation that he not use certain therapies that are unapproved in mainstream medicine.
