Dickinson man dies in collision with semi

BELFIELD, N.D. (AP) — Authorities said a 45-year-old man from Dickinson is dead after his sports utility vehicle collided head-on with a semitrailer near Belfield.

BELFIELD, N.D. (AP) — Authorities said a 45-year-old man from Dickinson is dead after his sports utility vehicle collided head-on with a semitrailer near Belfield.

The Highway Patrol said the accident happened at about 3 a.m. Sunday. The patrol says the SUV was traveling south on Highway 85 when it crossed the center line and collided with a semi driven by 49-year-old Verland Erickson of Belgrade, Mont.

The name of the victim has not been released. The patrol said Erickson was treated at a Dickinson hospital and released.

Erickson’s semi was towing an empty tanker trailer used for hauling non-hazardous liquids.
