Any town is eligible to win, regardless of population. Last year’s grand prize winner, Grand Marais, Mich., attained 1,281,724 votes despite having a population of only 300, and the $40,000 prize money is being used to repair the town’s damaged sea wall.

People can vote by logging on to www.readersdigest.com/america and voting for Larimore and Lakota or other towns as many times as they like.
