The Jamestown High School National Honor Society will be actively involved in selling daffodils from Jan. 1 until Feb. 15 in the schools and community. As in the past, Tammy Mullowney, National Honor Society adviser, will assist them with the fundraiser.
“Each year the students do an amazing job of reaching out to the community to promote Daffodil Days,” Mullowney said.
The daffodils will cost $10 for 10 daffodils bare, $15 for 10 daffodils in a vase or $25 for 10 daffodils and a Boyd’s bear. Daffodils ordered for the fundraiser will arrive March 19.
According to Mary Dahl, community relationship manager for the American Cancer Society, Jim and Linda Bender of James-town will serve as co-chairs of the Stutsman County Daffodil Days fundraiser. She said the couple will work to expand the program to area businesses, churches, and other social and civic organizations. The Benders will be focusing their efforts on the communities neighboring Jamestown; essentially hoping to cover the entire county and beyond.
“As we promote flower sales within the community of Jamestown and Stutsman County, businesses have been overwhelmingly supportive of both the National Honor Society and the American Cancer Society,” Jim said. “Linda and I, along with the National Honor Society, look forward to a very productive Daffodil Days event.”
A show about the sale will air at noon and 7 p.m. Sunday and at 7 p.m. Dec. 26-28 on channel 17 on Dakota Central Telecommunications during the “Good Samaritan Program.”
